Whether you’re a seasoned equestrian or brand new to horses, Erik and Liz Wright have created a welcoming, supportive, and fun environment that makes learning polo an exciting and unforgettable experience.
As a lifelong horsewoman, I recently had the chance to take a first-time polo lesson with Wrightway Polo, and I can’t say enough about the warmth, patience, and expertise that Erik and Liz bring to their program.

A First-Time Polo Experience Like No Other
Walking into a new equestrian sport can feel intimidating—especially one as fast-paced and dynamic as polo. But from the moment you arrive at Wrightway Polo, you’re greeted with smiles, encouragement, and a true passion for teaching.

What to Expect in Your First Polo Lesson

  • Meet Your Polo Pony – Wrightway’s horses are athletic, well-trained, and incredibly patient with new riders. Even if you’ve never played before, these ponies know their job and help you learn the ropes. I had the pleasure of riding the very experienced, Monica. She showed me the ropes and was so patient as I learned the basics.

  • Learning the Basics – Erik and Liz take the time to explain the fundamentals: how to hold the mallet, proper riding position, and the essential rules of the game.

  • Swinging & Hitting the Ball – Polo requires a whole new way of riding—one hand on the reins, the other swinging the mallet. Erik and Liz provide step-by-step guidance, making sure every rider feels confident before heading into play.

  • Playing a Practice Chukker – Once you get the basics down, the real fun begins. You’ll have the chance to practice in a controlled game-like setting, feeling the thrill of polo firsthand.

Why Wrightway Polo Stands Out
Erik and Liz Wright aren’t just great instructors—they’re passionate, patient, and truly dedicated to making polo accessible to everyone. Whether you’re a lifelong rider or brand new to horses, they create an environment that feels inclusive, encouraging, and fun.

  • No gear? They’ve got you covered. Polo ponies, mallets, and helmets are provided—just bring your sense of adventure.

  • A welcoming community. You’ll meet fellow riders and new friends who share a love for horses, competition, and outdoor fun. I’ll be bringing my barn friends back to play this summer.
